Welshpool & district primary school teacher amongst finalist for Outstanding teacher award

Welshpool & district Primary School give a shout out to their prep/1 teacher Chloe Wade on being a finalist in the Outstanding Teacher awards.

Outstanding teachers and schools are being celebrated for their innovation and excellence, with finalists being announced for this year’s Victorian Education Excellence Awards.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll today congratulated the 41 finalists across 14 award categories which recognise inspirational teachers, principals, and education support staff making a difference to the lives of students in Victorian government schools. 

Some of this year’s finalists include Chloe Wade, a teacher from Welshpool and District Primary School. Chloe is a finalist in the The Outstanding Early Career Primary Teacher award

This award recognises effective and innovative teachers in the first five years of their teaching career who have demonstrated excellence in teaching practice at a Victorian government primary school and have made a significant contribution to improving student learning and wellbeing.

Chloe was described as Chloe Wade is a dedicated and effective educator at Welshpool and District Primary School. She improves student learning and wellbeing using data-informed, evidence-based practices. This has led to improvements in student literacy and numeracy. Chloe also uses wellbeing surveys and behavioural data to support students’ social and emotional development, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Chloe plays a key role in Disability Inclusion at the school. She engages with professional learning, meets with inclusion coaches, and helps staff develop and refine individual learning plans. Chloe fosters collaboration to improve teaching and learning outcomes promoting a culture of inquiry, collaboration and evidence-based decision making. She encourages her peers to reflect on their teaching and supports them to refine strategies based on student needs.

Judging panels will determine the winners of each award, who will be announced at a ceremony on Friday, 24 October, a week before World Teachers’ Day.

The awards also support the continued professional development of staff, with professional learning grants of $20,000 available for each individual award winner, and $25,000 for each team award.

The winner of the Lindsay Thompson Award for Excellence in Education – which honours Victoria’s longest serving education minister and former Premier – receives a further professional learning grant of $20,000.
