Third quarter goal blitz ends Yarrams hopes
Yarram hosted fourth place Yallourn Yallourn North in what was a must win game for the Demons if they hoped to keep their final chances alive.
It also was Shem Rendells 250 game and the Demons wanted to be able to celebrate this milestone in the best way possible.
It was a ripper game that had many twists and turns but unfortunately for Demons, the Jets proved a little better on the day.
The first half of the fist quarter saw YYN defenders work hard to turn the football over and make quick transition into their forward line where their forward kicked truely.
Yarram’s veteran Griff Underwood became involved in the play and minutes latter Yarram had their first goal.
YYN 15 points ahead at the end of the first quarter.
Yarram had plenty of play in the second but could not find the big sticks, but kicked plenty of points.
YYN head to the rooms with a nine point advantage.
It was in the third quarter that YYN did the damage kicking six goals to Yarram one and increasing the margin to 32 points at the final change.
Yarram continued to tackle and chase in the final term and were rewarded on the scoreboard for their efforts, halfing the three quarter time margin, but time was against them. YYN winning by 14 points in a highly entertaining game.
