Nothing like starting the season in the deep end with a match up against Sale City. We knew it was going to be tough, but the girls held their heads high and kept giving it their all from start to finish. Down our defensive end, Shayla, Charlotte and Chloe had multiple intercepts and rebounds. Mid court saw Ella, Lucy, Scarlett and Izzy (our fill in from u13s) really shine, moving well and creating plenty of space. In goals Navy and Sammi had a tough battle with wind that didn't cooperate however moved well around the circle. Plenty to work on but an absolutely cracking start to the season and we are so excited to see how we grow as a team.

We opened our season in challenging windy conditions, but continued to push through! After a strong preseason and the addition of some new players, this game gave us opportunities to test different combinations and build connections across the court. Regardless of the scoreboard, the girls kept their heads up and showed great resilience. Steph Morrey delivered a consistent performance in attack, providing strong leads and being a reliable option. Down the other end, Nat Morrey played with determination and showed great effort and leadership in defence. There were plenty of positives to take from this game, and we are excited to keep building and improving as we head into next week!

What a game to start with against Sale City! With the wind being quite bad for shooting and the team being a completely new side, worked so hard for a great result. There is still plenty to work on. Movement in the shooting end proving a struggle at some moments, but when it was on, it was on! In our mid court, the girls moved so well around each other and did quite well under pressure. The movement and decisions down the court were very good. In our defensive end the girls played their hearts out and won some balls back. They didn’t drop their heads even when it didn’t go to plan.
All round it was a good game to start the season and all get to know how each other plays.

What a way to kick start season 2026!
With a very new team who have not had the best preseason and limited time to bond and build connections with one another it was always going to be challenging coming up against Sale City who set the benchmark across the league. Our defensive end worked tirelessly coming up against some of the best shooters in the league getting plenty of hands on the ball and disrupting Sales momentum. Mid courters worked hard finding space and hitting circle edge with some nice feeds to the shooters. There’s a bit to work on with our shooters to get more volume up.
Awards to Darcy-Lee for her tenacity on the court and Lilli Slaby for her non stop effort in defence winning plenty of ball back.
Go Dees!

A great effort by the girls in a tough physical game and very windy conditions.
The girls warmed into the game as new combinations started to combine well together. Their endeavour and willingness to embrace the contest showed up in some strong passages of play. We need to work on our passing and general court play but there are so many positives to take from the game.
Some great defensive work by Ruby, Maddy and Ekala, Stella, Sharnie & Manawa worked hard through the centre court area and set up some great plays. India and Rachel worked exceptionally hard against tough physical defenders and showed glimpses of the strong attacking goal end that they can work towards. Thanks to Lily for being a sub too!
India and Ekala were award winners today for working hard to make improvements in their game.
Well done everyone!
