Lead by our newly appointed captain Ella, The girls worked much more cohesively this week, being only their second game as a team and came out strong. Sammi and Navy shared the circle and moved beautifully converting to some great goals. The feeds from our mid courters Scarlett, Lucy and Ella into the circle were key in the goals we got, however the defence by the opposition was strong. Kittie was a welcome addition back into the team and, whilst usually a goaler, really shone in Wing attack this week. Down our defensive end Shayla, Charlotte and Chloe had their work cut out for them but had some brilliant intercepts and rebounds which had us all screaming with excitement on the side lines.
Awards: Chloe for her incredible defence and Kittie for her amazing work in wing attack.

After last week’s wild weather it was great to play in some sunshine today! The girls had a strong first quarter finishing at YYN 7 to Yarram 4, but YYN were able to increase the pressure and ultimately take a strong win. However, there was lots of positives, with a significant increase in our overall goals, and lots more voice and pressure on the court. Evie stepped it up and showed her versatility, taking on both the midcourt and the shooting end, and was able to sink the majority of our goals today with some fantastic accuracy. Meanwhile, Manawa was dominant in defence, taking some flying intercepts through the midcourt. We will continue on the up and up next week as we take on Gormandale!
Awards: Evie Charles and Manawa Apiata

D grade came to YYN with a lot of enthusiasm for the second game of the season. We started off strong with some great teamwork down the court and shooting from Lily and Jaz. (Hope your shoulder and knee is okay Jaz! Left some valuable skin at YYN)! The defences were combining nicely to make it hard for the YYN shooters and created some nice interceptions. A special mention to Mesha who flew through the air like superman! Even though the score didn’t reflect what we wanted it to, it was still a great effort by everyone involved. Thank you to all players for stepping up and taking on different positions with some rolling rotations.
Keep working hard on our skills and game play at training and we will continue to improve going forward with the season…
Award winners were Evie Charles for giving her all at C and WA, taking on advice and putting it into practice. Second award was given to Mesha for her performance in the defensive end. Great work! Who knew you could fly?

A tough game down in the bowl for the girls.
There was an improvement in goal volume however centre pass conversion rate, and goals from gains lower than we would like. Mesha had a fantastic run in keeper. Darcy provided constant pressure in center. A big thanks to Lilli who had to move to ga at halftime, with no preparation. Lilly rose offered some great shooting. Despite the blow out there was great sportsmanship between the Dees and YYN and I commend the Dees for not dropping their heads.
Awards: Lilly and Lilli for their shooting.

The girls had a flying start to the game.
Some great goaling, with terrific centre court feeds and we also scored from some great defensive work. The next three quarters were very tightly contested with YYN coming out strong and fighting their way back in to the game.
Some wayward passing and fatigue saw us fade as the game progressed. The positives are that everyone is working extremely hard to get to contest, our attack end is starting to gel together and despite quite a few rolling substitutions the girls are beginning to show signs of a cohesive unit.
Awards: Rachel for staying strong and shooting very well today.
Maddy for strong rebounding and taking the opportunity to fly for a few intercepts.
Looking forward to what we can do next week!
