Bank closure: 7.30 report highlight impact of Yarram’s last Bricks and Mortar Bank
Wendy Pope OAM gets ready for her interview with the help of cameraman Andy
7.30 journalist Matt Lorigan and cameraman Andy arrived in Yarram on Monday.
The purpose of their visit was to examine how the closure of the last Bank in Yarram would impact the community.
They spoke with local stock and station agent David Phelan. David has been leading the campaign - firstly to try and save the Bendigo Bank and when that became abundantly clear that those in charge were not interested in listening to any proposals put forward by community, he then turned his attention to other banking intuitions trying to convince them that investing in Yarram was a good investment.

Michael and Andy then went out into the community, capturing the feeling on the street, speaking with community elders and local businesses.
Tonight our communities voice will be heard on the National stage, as they present their finding on ABC’s 7.30 program.
