Just A Farmer Screening Brings Mental Health Awareness to Fish Creek and surrounding areas

Fish Creek Memorial Hall– The award-winning film Just A Farmer will be screening on Friday 29th August 2025 at Fish Creek Memorial Hall. This powerful film captures the struggles and triumphs of rural life, with a deep focus on mental health awareness and community resilience.

"Mental health is often a silent struggle in farming communities," says Fish Creek Memorial Hall committee president, Daryl Standfield. "This film brings that reality to the forefront, starting conversations that can change lives."

“We are very pleased to partner with the South Gippsland Hospital – Foster to present this powerful film. The film's presentation is also supported by Look over the Gate, Southern Stock Feeds, Saputo, SEJ Co, Foster Rotary, Alex Scott, Melina Bath and Danny O'Brien, recognizing agriculture is fundamental to South Gippsland and the connection between all of us in our rural community”.

Why this film matters:

· 1 in 5 Australians experiences mental health challenges each year

· Rural communities are at higher risk due to isolation and financial stress

· Conversations can save lives – and that’s what this film encourages.

The event will feature a keynote session with Warren Davies, known as The Unbreakable Farmer - where attendees will hear Warren speak on resilience, persistence, determination, and wellbeing, through his lived experience as a farmer.

There will be dinner provided for all attending, providing an opportunity for everyone to get together and socialise. We ask people to please register their attendance (free) for catering purposes.
