Championship in the Balance

Seventy five competitors hit off in Saturday’s second round of the 2026 Mens and Junior Club Championships and at the conclusion of play only a couple of shots between the leading players in each grade should ensure some tense and exciting golf in the final round on Saturday.

Jarryd Swift (5) was in terrific touch to win scratch 73 and A Grade with net 68.

Griffin Underwood (13) also had a good day to win the B Grade with net 70 and put himself in a good position for Saturday’s finale.

Welles Jenkins (19) had another consistent round to win C Grade with net 73.

Stacee Staley (41) saluted again winning D Grade with a score of net 70.

DTL awards went to many of the leading contenders for Saturday’s finale, Darren Janssen 70, Ricky Benis 70, Dylan Rash 70, David Cooper 71, Tas Nicholls 71, Scott Leggett 71, Ignatius Duivenvoorden 73, Peter Biggs 73 and Lukas Jenkins also with net 73 recognised.

After two rounds of Championship play the leaders board is crowded .

In A Grade, Tas Nicholls 152 has a two stroke lead over Dylan Rash 154 with previous Club Champions , Jarryd Swift 155 , Scott Leggett 155 and Darren Janssen on 159 with some exciting stroke play anticipated from the Club’s finest on Saturday.

In B Grade again the leaders board is jam packed, David Cooper 169, Ignatius Duivenvoorden 169, Griffin Underwood 171, Paul Conheady 172, Jamie Peirce 174 and John Skarratt on 175 are all in with a shot for Honor board recognition.

The Jenkins Family seemed to have C Grade within their grasp with Koby Jenkins the leader on 180 and also the Junior Championship Leader.

Peter Biggs 182, Lukas Jenkins 184 and Welles Jenkins on 188 strokes are all strong contenders.

In D Grade , Graham Underwood 200 has a handy five stroke advantage over Rick Rogers 205, Ricky Benis 209 and the popular Clubman, Graeme Pattinson on 210 shots.

In the inaugural Junior Championship, Koby Jenkins with 76 points has a nice break on Rylar Staley and Mack Jenkins both 61, Zayde Staley 59 and Tate Jenkins on 54 points.

Tuesday Ladies Day

A three person Ambrose was conducted on Tuesday.

Di Foat, Michelle Staley and Anne Maree Skarratt combined nicely to win on C/B with a score of net 66.

Tracey McKenzie, Tania Richmond and Jen Nickell also had a good day net 66 and the participants enjoying the Ambrose format.

Tracey McKenzie 15 and Michelle Staley 18 winning the NTP’s on the day.

Mens Stableford

Steve Papworth 35, Lukas Jenkins 35 , Jared Thomas 35 and Bill Reid also with 35 points played consistently with Steve’s impressive 21 points on the back nine giving him the victory on C/B.

Ian Peel won the NTP on 7 and Noel Underwood got the money on 15 with a fine shot.

Thursday Nine Hole Event.

John Papworth was on fire with 24 points. Bill Reid 22 , Peter Jenkins 22 and Danny Andersen all won some fare.

Sunday Nine Hole Stableford

Anne King Church making a welcome return to the fairways, striking the ball confidently with 22 points the victor.

Jared Thomas 19 , promising junior Reggie Pettitt 17, Thomas Lawrence 16 and Dylan Skarratt also on 16 points followed with players enjoying a perfect autumn day on the fairways.
