Round 13 Yarram netball

Yarram V Glengarry

U15s

Each week this team gets better and better! The girls kept the score lower than the previous match against Glengarry which shows their growth as a team. There was some lovely feedback from the Glengarry umpire acknowledging how far the team has come. Congratulations girls!! Shayla delivered a standout defensive game, earning her the award for this week (we’ve heard she’s already put it to good use). The other award went to Olivia, for also putting on a fantastic defensive game and listening to all feedback given to her. Awards: Shayla & Olivia.

U17s

Yarram 13 Glengarry 52.

Whilst the scoreboard didn’t go our way, the girls still showed a distinct improvement from last time we saw the Magpies, more than doubling our score from our previous match up and reducing their score. There were some great moments of clean plays, fantastic goals under pressure, and hard-won intercepts, but ultimately a slick Glengarry side was too strong for us today. Evie played her trademark reliable and gutsy game in mid court and shooter, always being trusted to fight for each pass and put her strong hands to work for every turnover. Alannah was thrown around the court from attack to defence to mid court and put in 100% regardless of where she was on the court. Charlotte and Shayla did a fantastic job stepping up from U15s to fill in for some injuries, and overall future stars of our club are looking bright! Awards: Evie Charles and Alannah Stevens.

D Grade

Yarram 26 Glengarry 38.

A well fought game today girls. Everyone went out with positivity and intensity, rolling on from last week’s win. There was some execution and thought put into channels, working the ball well down the court. Unfortunately, Glengarry’s accuracy was too good for us today. Tammie had a stellar game today earning herself an award, along with Shantaz who consistently performed well applying great defensive pressure. Well done girls! Another win is in sight. Awards: Tammie Samuel & Shantaz Arnol.

C Grade

Yarram 33 Glengarry 43.

As always Maddie applied impeccable pressure and commitment for the entire game. The level of pressure that we should all be aspiring to down the court. We did lift and had some great passages of play, but we need to work on some basic skills to enhance our game. We remained consistent even with the changes through the mid court. Tahlia and Manawa continue to gain confidence and show strength playing senior netball. Award - Maddie Balcombe.

B Grade

Yarram 38 Glengarry 44.

A hard-fought and exciting game from start to finish! We were neck and neck with Glengarry for the first three quarters, holding a narrow lead of 1–2 goals for most of the match. The versatility of our team really shone through — Grace Cook showed her class, switching from shooting to putting the pressure on down back and making a real impact. Ekala dominated with a move from WD to WA, creating space beautifully and feeding the ball with confidence. We also saw Stella step up into goals alongside Sharni, and the combination was seamless. Their movement, accuracy, and work on the rebounds kept the scoreboard ticking over. In the final quarter, a few errors gave Glengarry a window, and they made the most of it to take the win by 6. Despite the result, it was a strong and consistent performance by everyone on court. Awards - Grace Cook & Ekala Moore.
