Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows
While Chris Witchell and Blake Reed are doing the final preparation to their car ahead of hitting the road on June 19 for the first ShitBox Rally of the year, two other locals are holding their final few fundraising events ahead of their ShitBox Rally from Port Douglas to Melbourne which commences on July 11.
Sisters Abby and Andrea Mattern will be driving a 2006 Holden Rodeo which cost $1500. They have called themselves, Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows and what a great name it is for the two who always have a smile on their faces.
“We want to make a real difference in fighting this horrible disease. Every dollar raised goes directly to Cancer Council and helps fund vital cancer research, which is why we’re doing everything we can to hit our goal. Your support, whether big or small, will have a real impact.”
The epic journey will take from Port Doulas to Melbourne will take 7 days to complete. Andrea and Abby will be joined by nearly 500 others in 250 cars. They will travel the harsh Australia outback – hitting Aramac, Toompine and Louth to name a few spots.
The best part is that it’s all in the name of raising funds for Cancer Council and Cancer Research.
It’s a journey of grit, humour and heart.
Two sisters in a Shitbox- what could go wrong!
Friday night raffles at the Victoria Hotel Alberton will go towards their fundraising efforts, this will be followed with a fundraising morning tea at Café Aga (where Abby works) in July. Owners Melaine and Alex will be donating $1 from every cake, slice and beverage sold on the day. More details on this event soon.
