Wildcats’ D Grade into the big one

Woodside’s D Grade netballers secured their place in the 2026 NGFNL D grade netball grand final with an impressive nine-goal victory over Sale City.

Fielding a settled line-up, the Wildcats reversed the result of their qualifying final, when Sale City prevailed by four goals.

Woodside maintained a three-goal advantage for much of the contest before producing a dominant final quarter to race away with the win.

Wildcats defenders applied tremendous pressure, getting their hands to numerous passes and making life difficult for the Sale City goalers.

At the opposite end, Rikki-Lee Bonnici and Erin Henderson were accurate from the opening whistle. The pair swapped positions throughout the match, with Bonnici finishing with 15 goals and Henderson contributing 19.

Through the centre Woodside played smart netball, applying plenty of pressure which played an important role in the victory.

The win was also a fitting way to celebrate Roberts’ 100th game for the club.

Wildcats fall agonisingly short

Woodside’s C Grade season came to a heartbreaking end following a one-goal overtime loss to minor premier Rosedale.

The Wildcats were the stronger side throughout the opening half, but Rosedale responded after the main break and took control during the third and fourth quarters.

With the scores locked at the end of regulation time, the match was forced into overtime.

Rosedale carried its momentum into the extra period and opened a four-goal advantage, but Woodside refused to surrender. The Wildcats scored the final three goals of the match, only for Rosedale to hold on for a thrilling one-goal victory.
