Basketball bounces back into action

THE sound of bouncing basketballs and cheering supporters has returned to The Walpole stadium, with the Yarram Basketball Association tipping off its 2026 season this week.

After months of planning and preparation, players of all ages are back on the court, with the association looking forward to another exciting season of local basketball.

The new season officially commenced on Monday, October 5, and will continue throughout Term 4, bringing together junior and senior players, families and supporters for another action-packed competition.

The Yarram Basketball Association committee says its focus this season is firmly on encouraging participation, promoting good sportsmanship and providing a welcoming environment where players of all ages and abilities can enjoy the game.

Adding to the excitement is the arrival of several new Green Shirts, who will join the association's dedicated team of long-serving volunteers in helping keep the competition running smoothly.

The committee has acknowledged the important contribution of its volunteers, whose ongoing commitment plays a vital role in providing basketball opportunities for the local community.

From enthusiastic youngsters stepping onto the court for the first time to developing junior players and the fast-paced action of the senior competition, there promises to be plenty of basketball entertainment throughout the season.

The association is encouraging the wider community to get behind its local teams, head along to the stadium and support the players from the sidelines.

With teams ready to compete, new faces joining the competition and plenty of enthusiasm surrounding the opening rounds, Yarram Basketball is looking forward to another successful season.
