Morwell East hoping for third time lucky

Morwell East are hoping that it will be third time lucky for their club after once again applying to join the NGFNL.

They will learn the fate of their attempt to change leagues next week.

The North Gippsland league has called a special general meeting of its 11 clubs who will vote on their willingness to accept Morwell East.

It is only 12 months since they were reject .

Morwell East currently plays in the Mid Gippsland league and wants to join a competition where they say the travel would be significantly reduced and it would bolster the chances of forming an under-18s team.

Morwell East is the only club to reapply for admittance - last season they were one of three clubs looking to transfer. The other two Yinnar and Newbrough are not know to have made application at this stage.

Morwell East president Colin King on behalf of his club committee has been making the rounds of clubs who voted no to their transfer in a bid to win their vote this time around.

One of the selling points is that NGFNL will get a traditionally competitive club with good finance.

A move to NGFNL would also give the club a chance of field a thirds side, which they current do not have, according to Mr King.
