Wildcats run riot against Sale City

Woodside produced a dominant four-quarter performance on Saturday, piling on 29 goals in a 124-point demolition of Sale City to further strengthen their position near the top of the North Gippsland Football-Netball League ladder.
The Wildcats were in control from the outset, kicking 5.4 to 1.3 in the opening term to establish a 25-point lead before extending their advantage at every change. By half-time Woodside had already booted 12.5 (77) and held a commanding 55-point lead.
Any hopes of a Sale City comeback were quickly extinguished after the main break as the Wildcats exploded with an incredible 11-goal third quarter. Woodside's relentless ball movement and forward pressure saw them add 11.1 while restricting the Bulldogs to just 2.3, effectively putting the contest beyond doubt.
The final term followed a similar pattern with Woodside adding another six goals to finish with a massive 29.8 (182) while Sale City battled hard to post 8.10 (58).

Brody Stainer and Luke Johnson were the stars in front of goal, finishing with a remarkable ten and nine-goals respectively. They received strong support from Cameron Whiteoak, Diamond Dobson and Adam Janssen, who each kicked two majors.
The victory was built around another outstanding team performance with Brody Stainer earning best-on-ground honours with Luke Johnson, Ashton Janssen, Ryan Foat, Alex Walpole and Tanner Hall all great contributors.
Woodside's spread of contributors not limited to these players. Hudson Holmes, John Fythe, Riley Denovan and Brayden Askew all finding the goals, while several younger players continued to make the most of their opportunities at senior level.
Despite the heavy defeat, Sale City continued to compete throughout the afternoon. Chad Evans, Nathan Whitford, Brayden Macgregor-Davies, Cooper Wyld, Tyson Dobson and Hudson Tollner were named among the Bulldogs' best players.
Bohdi Walker finished as Sale City's leading goal kicker with three majors, while Brysen Nottle, Hudson Tollner, Joel Gray, Chad Evans and Joshua Wells each added a goal.
This win keeps Woodside's strong season rolling along and provides further evidence of the Wildcats' attacking firepower as they continue their pursuit of another premiership.
