Woodside bounce back with a win

WOODSIDE Wildcats responded in style after their heavy defeat to Cowwarr on April 19, producing a strong all-round performance to defeat Glengarry by 85 points on Sunday.

Coach Hudson Holmes said the side needed to answer after last week’s disappointing showing.

“As I said last week we lowered our colours severely, so to gain some of that back was very important,” Holmes said.

Despite further changes to the line-up, Holmes was encouraged by the way younger players stepped up when given their opportunity.

“We lost a few more and brought in some kids, which they played their role, which is very positive.”

The Wildcats were also pleased to deliver the result in front of their home supporters.

“A good win in front of our home crowd on a Sunday and to keep working on our fundamentals,” Holmes said.

Several players impressed across the ground, with Holmes praising the performances of Adam and Ashton Jansen, along with Missen and Foat.

He also gave special mention to Ryley Denovan for his strong work in attack.

Looking ahead, Holmes said the focus remained on maintaining the team’s structure and discipline.

“Try and stay focused on our system and game plan.”

Woodside now has the bye before returning in Round Five against TTU, who are still searching for their first win of the season.
