Woodside get job done against Rosedale

Wildcats roar home after slow start

Woodside overcame a sluggish opening quarter to record an impressive 60-point victory over Rosedale, winning 15.13 (103) to 6.7 (43).

The Wildcats were held goalless during the opening term as Rosedale made a fast start, kicking 3.2 to establish a 19-point advantage at quarter-time.

Woodside began working its way into the contest during the second quarter, holding Rosedale to just one behind while adding 2.5 to reduce the deficit to three points at the main break.

The game changed dramatically after half-time as the Wildcats produced a dominant eight-goal third quarter. Woodside piled on 8.3 while Rosedale managed three goals, giving the visitors a commanding 30-point lead heading into the final term.

Woodside continued to control the contest in the last quarter, adding another five goals while keeping Rosedale goalless to complete a convincing turnaround.

Hudson Holmes led the attack with five goals, while Zac Richards added three.

Stephen Lambert, Cameron Whiteoak, Daniel Missen, Michael Stockdale, Brody Stainer, Michael O’Sullivan and Rob Michaelides also contributed one goal each, giving Woodside an impressive spread of nine individual goalkickers.

Daniel Missen was named Woodside’s best, alongside Riley Denovan, Ryan Foat, Robert Michaelides, Cameron Whiteoak and Joshua Morgan.

The victory continued Woodside’s strong form and demonstrated its ability to respond after being placed under significant pressure early in the contest.
